Went to Barolo in SoHo last Sunday night for a group birthday dinner for one of my guy’s friends.
The dinner was held during Restaurant Week and everyone but the birthday boy and his wife ordered off the $35 pre-fixe Restaurant Week menu which changed depending on the day of the week. We chose from the Sunday menu.
I was quietly disappointed to not be dining there another night when the menu looked more appealing. My meal (arugula and parmesean salad, gnocci in green peppercorn sauce and basil panna cotta) was mediocre at best but you’d never know that from the way my guy who chose other options (beef tartare, rigatoni with sausage and chocolate cake) from the pre-fixe menu left his pasta bowl.
Took a quick pic of his pasta bowl using my iPhone —
Doesn’t the bowl just look like it wants us to play with our food?
